As Amanda Hocking’s official #1 fan (I have a t-shirt and everything), I figured it was finally time I actually read one of her several books. Being an indie author that puts a new book out every week (or so it seems), I was very interested at what she would dish up. And what I found was pure awesomeness.

Alice was a pretty good protagonist. I don’t really like the fact that she was willing to throw her whole life away just to be part of Jack and Peter’s family, but she carried the story well and was pretty likeable. Jack, the first love interest introduced is so sweet and funny and it is impossible not to like him. Peter, on the other hand was very cold to Alice, thus, I didn’t like him that much. He is always running away, which I found kind of annoying, though I see why he did it. As of now, I am team Jack.

The writing in My Blood Approves was great! It was descriptive without being overly so and had a very enchanting feel to it. I was sucked right into the story from the beginning and rarely left this great new world once I found myself entranced in it.

Though not overly original, the story in My Blood Approves was very entertaining and had a way of being both light and dark at the same time. Hocking brings a fresh new look into vampire lore, it almost makes you want to become one! I am very eager to see where she takes the story and these great characters in the rest of the series.

Amanda Hocking offers a great new voice in the mish-mash of young adult vampire books. My Blood Approves had everything from great, realistic characters to an enchanting writing style and unique new story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great new story that will take your breath away and never let you put it down.
