A battle between two covers. One from the US, one from the UK. 3...2...1... FIGHT!
Round One: The Hunger Games
^US-UK^
Wow, two completely different covers for one amazing book. I love the simplicity and font of the US cover, and the pin! The UK cover is cool since it can reverse to a picture of Peeta instead of Katniss, but the fact that people are on the cover is what makes me not like it as much. Animated people is not what a cover for these books need. I also like the font on the US cover better.
Winner: US
Round Two: The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove
^US-UK^
Wow, these are both good covers! I like how the US cover has blue. But the girl looks like she is about to seduce this guy. The UK cover is gorgeous, and I love it! It may confuse some UKers, however, since it is so similar to the Fallen covers. Some Fallen fangirls are sure to go to the bookstore and see BETRAYAL by Lauren Kate and freak out, thinking it is a new Fallen novel, and then force their parents to buy it for them. But that is probably the point.
Winner: UK
Round Three: Wake
^US-UK^
Two completely different covers! I like both of them for different reasons, and the choice is really hard to make. I like the simplicity and the font of the US cover, and I have a thing for pillows. I really like that there is a pillow on the cover. The UK cover is pretty and artsy, but it is a little too animated for this series, I think.
Winner: US

US COVERS FTW!
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with your on the Hunger Games cover. I much prefer the UK version. The other two, yup, agree on both.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of your choices. I think the UK cover for Wake is waaay to whimsical for that series. Good choices!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Hunger Games US cover but I do like that we get to see the publisher's interpretation of what Katniss looks like. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm three for three in agreement with you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on all of them!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of all US covers on this post. The one for Betrayal fits the theme of the book better for me. The other two it is simple vs. too much. US wins on this round I believe.
ReplyDeleteI don't particularly like the US or the UK covers for The Hunger Games, but I think the UK wins for me just because it's the version I have and so I'm used to it (and I actually liked that there was an illustration of Katniss and Peeta - it helped me picture them). But as a series as a whole, the US covers look better together - the UK covers don't look good together.
ReplyDeleteI agree about The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove.
I disagree about Wake though - it was pretty far down on my wish list but the UK cover made me want it more, it's more original and interesting, I'd buy it just for the cover. So UK. =/
I'd say US on all of them.
ReplyDeleteI almost always the european ones better. That was fun.
ReplyDeleteI like the US cover for The Hunger Games... the other two, I prefer UK. Usually I'm jealous of the UK covers. Fun post. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I should be thankful for American covers. Compared to the United Kingdom's, ours are quite artistic. :) Yes, I have a little pride.
ReplyDeleteUS sweeps it.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Particularly on the first two. I absolutely love the covers of the HG books!
