Caden’s all about the 3 Ds: demon, death and destruction... Awake a year-long coma, where he literally spent in hell, Caden Butcher, 17, developed a special power. He can speak to demons in their own language. This new trick helps him take over the family exorcism business, from his broken alcoholic father. Having to take care of the finances, Caden makes a decent income getting rid of demons. He’s known as the young whiz-kid exorcist to the stars, obtaining most of his work in Hollywood. But what others don’t know is the exorcisms are all staged with the help of his best buddy, a demon he met in hell named Dantalion (Dan). When an exorcism goes wrong, Caden discovers the demon inside a teen girl is not the run of the mill malicious entity but an adversary from down under who is hell bent on Caden’s destruction. The International Order of Exorcists, an organization that tolerates Caden at best because of his respected father, starts their own investigation because of his screw up. Now with the help of his demon buddy, and Caden’s girlfriend Aspen Spencer, a skilled necromancer, Caden must track down the rogue demon before he can expose Caden as a fraud and destroy everything that matters to him in his life, ending his reign as the one and only Demon Whisperer.
Immediately after reading Tawny Stokes’s debut, Static, I just had to read her sophomore
novel, Demon Whisperer. Though I knew
it wasn’t related to Static, I fell
in love with Tawny Stokes’s writing in her first book, and just wanted more of
it. And let me tell you, I thought Static
was good, and was completely unprepared for how much I would enjoy Demon Whisperer.
Tawny Stokes has created a brilliant paranormal world within
our own. There are demons, witches, zombies, and all sorts of crazy creatures
that occupy our world. The mythology Stokes has created for Demon Whisperer blew me away, and I
simply cannot wait to read more about Caden, since I want to visit this world
again, as soon as I can!
I already knew Tawny Stokes was a great writer when I began
reading Demon Whisperer, but I had no
idea how good she really was until I read the book from start to finish. Stokes
is definitely an author I will be keeping an eye on, since I know how great she
can be.
Caden Butcher was such a fantastic character. Sure, he’s
kind of obnoxious, but that’s what makes him so much fun to read. He just doesn’t
care what anyone thinks of him, which was awesome to read. The rest of the cast
of characters was absolutely fantastic, and I can’t wait to read more about
them in America’s Next Top Zombie,
their next adventure.
I wasn’t prepared for how awesome Demon Whisperer was going to be, and I was blown away when I
actually read it. Don’t pass up this awesome book that will leave you hanging
on every word, and begging for more when it’s over.
