Schuyler Van Alen is confused about what is happening to her. Her veins are starting to turn blue, and she's starting to crave raw meat. Soon, she is thrust into an intricate maze of secret societies and bitter intrigue. Now, all of a sudden, Jack Force, the most popular guy in school, is showing an interest in her. And when one of the popular girls is found dead, Schuyler and Jack are determined to get to the bottom of it. Schuyler wants to find out the secrets of the mysterious Blue Bloods. But is she putting herself in danger?

I’m always a little hesitant when I read a popular book, and Blue Bloods was no exception. Since it is so popular, I’ve seen a lot of differing opinions regarding the series. However, soon after starting it, I discovered that my fears were not warranted, since I absolutely loved Blue Bloods, and cannot wait to read more.

There are a lot of vampire books out there, but Blue Bloods really does stand out. A lot of the focus is on the high society aspect of the characters, and that was so much fun to read about. The vampire mythology is only just delved into, and I can’t wait to discover more of it as I continue the series—since I definitely will be doing so.

Melissa de la Cruz has a fast-paced writing style that sucked me right into Blue Bloods. I don’t know what it was that kept me so hooked, but I can say that I absolutely enjoyed reading Blue Bloods from start to finish. It never felt like work when I was reading it—as some books tend to for me, since I read so many.

Blue Bloods switches perspectives between many characters, sometimes several times in one chapter. Though Schuyler is the main character, she didn’t get all of the spotlight, which I liked, since there are so many great characters in Blue Bloods. We get a glimpse into many of their lives, and I liked all of the different points of view throughout the book.

I can’t pinpoint what exactly made me enjoy Blue Bloods so much, but there is definitely something that kept me hooked from start to finish. There are a lot of opinions people seem to have on this series, but I for one definitely recommend it. I can’t wait to read more books in this series that I now have very high hopes for.

  1. I felt the exact same way when I started the series but I'm hooked now, too. The mythology is great and I love that their is a historical aspect to it as well. The only I don't like so much is the length of the books. They're quick reads but I hate having to wait so long for the next one to come out! :p Great review!

  3. I didn't think I'd like this series so much myself and I was skeptical, as the only other vampire series I'd read was the Twilight Saga. This series was a hundred times better and I'm currently up to date with Lost In Time. Can't wait for the finale and her new Wolf Pact series. Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series about the fey is the only one that it compares to, in my mind. This isn't really to do with the characters or plot really, but because of the way the perspective changes. Otherwise, I suppose they're completely different.
